Hi Creeperking914, sometimes the application form doesn't load if you haven't been active on the forums much, if you are wanting to apply for a staff role, right now it would be best to do so via the talk to an owner board. Some of the things that we do look for in our staff ranks is activity both on the forums and servers, knowledge of the game and willingness to learn.

The next best build contest has arrived in PickAxis! Share the love in your heart and express it in the latest contest. That's right, it's time to celebrate Valentine's Day, Minecraft style!
From now until Monday, February 20th, let your creative juices flow! You can jump right in onto the build contest server (/server buildcontest), claim a plot (/plot auto), build something awesome, then submit it (/plot done) before building ends on the 20th! We'll announce the winners shortly afterwards.

I have an idea on the next build contest. What if we could do a Dungeon build contest. JasonPrimate also suggested this and it would be a lot of fun, what do you think?

I know the conversation of new perks in the tokens /shop has come up quite a bit over recent months and we have been listening! Now is your chance to suggest new token perks, we might not take on all of them but they will be considered!
 
Currently we have the following perks:
Recipe - lets you see how to craft items Virtual Workbench - use /wb to open up an invisible workbench wherever you are Teleport Here Request - Allows you to use /tpahere Stack - Stacks your items past they defaults Virtual Ender Chest - Same as workbench but storage! Fly - 45 minutes (or currently until you log off) with /fly 5 Identity Tomes Back - allows you to use /back  
Put your suggestions below! If you want to also add what amount of tokens you think it is worth.
 
Suggested Perks (let us know if you want any of these suggested ones)
Additional /sethome - Max 10 for 200 tokens each +1 Additional towny plots +1 Perma fly 10,000 tokens Cash for tokens (maybe 10 tokens = $20) +1 24 hour Fly Cash for tokens only when all other perks bought

Sorry for the delay!  The winners will be announced by the end of this week.  There were a lot of cool entries -- it's awesome seeing the interesting ways everyone worked mass quantities of dirt into their builds!

I do see what you are saying about no excitement from mobs and mobspawners (maybe it can be changed so mobs from spawners attack and maybe the difficulty of mobs can be increased?) however I personally like the lack of pvp and the more peaceful environment. I think if the server was made into one with raiding/griefing and pvp many people will be very op and be crushing everyone else and it will enable many people to come on and just kill others trying to build peacefully. Maybe there could be a section of the world that has pvp or a pvp arena of some sort, or maybe you could try hardcore which is basically survival but with griefing, raiding, and pvp except that when you die you have a temp ban for a few hours. 

As Ben mentioned, the ideal survival server you have described is available and is on the Pickaxis network. However this does not have towny. Hardcore is solely PvP and raiding. Unfortunately I'm not sure many people play on there any more. I would gladly come and play on there if you want to, and if you can encourage other players to do so. 
I can't see survival changing. In all the time I have played survival nobody else has raised these concerns. I assume as they have stuck around on the server, as they enjoy the way it works. The problem I see is if a player is working really hard to make a town, but before they can their items and buildings get stolen and damaged. This would probably lose heart in it and quit. I know these sorts of servers are available elsewhere, it is just not what Pickaxis is or what it is about. 
Go on hardcore and see if you can find all my stuff!

I just wanted to run through a recent rule change and some reminders for you all.
As some of you may be aware we have updated the rules with regards to players being AFK on survival. 
The rule (number 1) now states the following
"Do not AFK for extended periods of time, or near anything that could negatively impact other player's experience"
This means you will be kicked if you afk for long periods of time, especially at automatic farms. 
Extended periods of time is generally 30-45 mins or longer. All staff can check your last known movements and will try to communicate with you before kicking you.
One thing we have noticed recently is the amount of players making long strip mines in the normal world. Please refrain from doing this as we do not want the whole world chopping up. The mining world is a great place for resources, and is reset monthly, so please use it for your resource gathering. 
Can I please ask players to stop begging or demanding other players and staff for items, death points or certain locations. It is not a staff members job to find your stuff after death or finding places you have lost. I will help players where I can but I will only do so when shown respect from the player, not when I am told I have to. Every item on Minecraft is replaceable.  Remember your manners!
Finally, please refrain from "fake" auctions. continuously putting an auction up when you intend on cancelling it is a little unfair, especially on newer or players with little money.

HEY GUYS! Ender here. I have something that I feel needs to be said. So, while you are on the server, every now and then you see where players vote. If you don't already I would like you to as well. Voting comes with a lot of perks like things in /shop. In creative you can get things like world edit. On skyblock you can buy island warps and survival you can get things like /stack or /fly. These are all really cool things that are purchased with the tokens you earn from voting and you can get them too! At the beginning of every month the owners, Nick and Husker, post the top voters. If you are one of those people you can get coins to get things from /buy (pretty sure that's the command) with these you can purchase ranks that allow you to do special things like /back or own vaults that allow extra space. Along with that you get more tokens!
Not only does voting benefit you, but it benefits the owners by moving us higher on the minecraft server lists. The higher we are, the more friends we have to join us who may purchase ranks of their own or vote. With this Nick and Husker can use the money they make to pay for not only the server but future additions such as , for say, Skygrid or Prison.
To make PickAxis a better place, I want you guys to vote every day. Don't worry, I'll join too. All these things I mentioned, yall can have. Just vote daily for the amazing rewards. Bring your friends on to the server, remind them to vote. Tell people about PickAxis. Follow us on Twitter, create a forums account, participate in contests, help other players, and lastly be very active. Keep up to date with everything. Making PickAxis the best server it can be isn't just Nick, Husker, and the staff team's job. It's yours too, we need your help to do this, as a team.
To make things even more fun I'm going to host a little game. If you bring friends on the server, tell them to tell me that (insert gamer tag here) invited you to PickAxis and I will give you a reward. Along with that, who ever votes the most in the months, January , February , March, April, and May, will receive a special present from myself on which ever sub-server you choose.

Hi,  I've played for a week or two, I guess its time to introduce myself.
 
I'm Seansbar, from the land of Galiee, or New York.  But not New York City, far, far, far away from there.
I probably be mostly playing in Skyblock, although I've peeked at survival.  (How to you lock chests with spells?)
Glad to be playing here at PickAxis.
 
Oh, some more about myself:
I fix copy machines during the day, and have 3 sons, so nighttime is busy.  So that makes me old, older than the average MC player I've meet.  How old? I'm 9

So its that time again folks, yep time for another drop party so vote for the time you want. Donations to the drop party are greatly appreciated by everyone (especially the folks who end up getting the items).

I agree with @m00s3 I think Nick and Husker have been thinking on something. Im sure there will be another one soon ;P <3 But feel free to give them ideas on the topic ;P

New build contest? It's been awhile 

I personally wanted to thank SheTolerance and ZTolerance for all of their wonderful work with this weekend, along with Nick and Husker because I am sure that they helped. I have handed out a surprise present myself for anyone who participated in the drop party on Survival of 300 dollars. Make sure you guys thank staff for all their hard work, for everything they do for us. I know I am staff but I am not counting myself in this post. Staff members like SheTolerance and ZTolerance work hard on a daily basis to make sure they can create drop parties and other activities to keep players entertained and make sure players are always having fun. Just keep that in mind when playing the game and make sure to always have fun when surrounded by friends, even if they are just minecraft buddies.

Today is the survival drop party, its happening at 9PM GMT, 1PM PT, and 4PM ET!
