It's Thursday! That means it's time for the next PickAxis Weekly Update. BTW, these updates will be every other week unless there is enough information to add a couple more into the month.




What's New?
Changed Voting Sites - You will see that we switched PMC to another voting site because PMC wasn't registering each time someone voted and correctly reporting it back to us. In order to get you all the tokens you deserve, we switched to Mineservers.net. (Also, congrats to Malsamatic for winning Top Voter for January!)
1.8 Updates - Creative now joins Survival and Skyblock as a fully-updated 1.8 server. Enjoy the fun, new blocks!
New Token Shop Kits (Skyblock) - On Skyblock there are 2 new 1.8 kits in /shop. Use your tokens to purchase these for 50 tokens each. One kit is the 1.8 Ground Pack & the other is the 1.8 Sea Pack. Have ideas for other Token Kits? Let us know in the comments below.

Name Changes - Mojang has officially allowed us to change our Minecraft names. While doing so is compliant with most of our servers and plugins, be warned that it will not keep your Skyblock island. We are not yet sure of any other bugs it may cause, but do any updating with caution.

What's Coming?
Flash Build Contest - We will have our first Flash Build Contest starting this weekend. This means it will be up for only one week. Keep your eyes peeled for the announcement.
TF2 Event - This weekend we hope to have our first TF2 event. Join the PickAxis Steam group to be alerted to its start time. See ya there!

Official Rules
Builds may not contain offensive content.
All builds must be something heroes or villains would conduct their super business in. What you build, i.e. castle, cave, underground lair, sky fortress, high-tech lab, etc., is up to you. Your build should illustrate your side, good or evil. Please leave a sign explicitly stating your intended side, good or evil.
All builds, to be considered as an official entry, must be marked completed using the command /plot done. Any builds not identified as such by the close of the contest on November 30 at 11:59 PM EST, will not be judged as an entry.
Criteria for judging, based on a 10 point scale, are as follows: Creativity, Originality, Hideout Theme, and Design. Point totals will not be made public.

Tips for Entries
To get started and find your plot, perform the command /plot auto.
If your entry requires elements not set as the default environment in the contest world, instructions should be placed on a sign at the border of your entry plot, facing towards the path. Elements can include a day/night element or weather. Any questions on other possible element capabilities should be messaged to helios8385 here on the forums.
If there is a component of interaction involved with your entry, this must be EXPLICITLY and OBVIOUSLY noted on your contest plot. A sign along the outside edge of the plot, facing outwards towards the path will suffice.
All features of a creative server are enabled, including WorldEdit, redstone functionality, and gravel/sand block physics. Any questions on how to use WorldEdit should be searched.
Please don't bother the staff about your build.

That's right! PickAxis is finally in beta! What does that mean for you? There are some fun new features that we're excited to tell you about as part of our beta launch, and we'll have more to announce over the next few weeks.
Voting
We are listed on 5 server list websites. Please vote for PickAxis on each of them every 24 hours. When you vote, it will bring PickAxis up in the rankings and bring more players to the server. As a thank you from us, you'll be rewarded with 10 tokens each time you vote.
Tokens
Each day you can get 50 tokens for voting (10 tokens x 5 sites). On each server you can access the token shop by using the /shop command. You can buy some awesome perks with your tokens, like fly in Survival and SkyBlock, and extra plots in creative. The coolest part of tokens is that you can earn almost everything that's available in our real-money store. Stay on the lookout because we'll be hosting events and mini-games where you can earn more tokens each day.
What else?
We've been working tirelessly to add some really cool things to make the future of PickAxis epic. We've also fixed various bugs and cleaned up some things on our journey from alpha to beta. On top of that, we will be adding the ability to purchase paid packages from our store shortly, in case saving up tokens isn't your thing or if you're simply feeling generous.
It's now time to start inviting all your friends to come play with you on PickAxis! Please be welcoming and helpful to any new players you see. They will look to you for advice.
