For 2.5 billion. woah. Mojang predicts most of their staff should continue to work on Minecraft and they will interact with their community the same they always have which is great news. Recently Mojang posted the new 1.8 pre-release on their blog! https://mojang.com/2014/08/minecraft-1-8-pre-release-the-bountiful-update/ From the blog: In the pre-release they added a new default skin! More additions and changes to the game can be found here on the Minecraft wiki: http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/1.8#Changes HOW TO DOWNLOAD THE PRE-RELEASE: Open up the Minecraft launcher and select "New Profile" Check the box that says, "Enable experimental development versions ("snapshots")​​ You should get a pop-up saying these builds are not stable and may corrupt your world, (if you're ok with this then, "Yes") Where it says "Use version" open the drop-down menu and scroll to the top of the list where it says "snapshot 1.8-pre1" Once you have selected that, press save profile and you should be able to play! (I'd recommend creating a new world to try out the update) Keep in mind this is only a PRE-RELEASE so there are bugs in the game.
